yes we're alive and well....

Sorry for the long wait until I had time to post. YES, we are alive and well (actually I am home sick today, but that's another story) and living in sunny Tucson, Arizona. First of all let me say I appreciate all of your prayers and good wishes on our journey here. Second, keep praying, our house is not sold. We received an offer, but it was $30K less than our recently lowered asking price (and the guy can't figure out why we were offended...) Thankfully, we have a good place to live with friends, and as long as we still have the house in Kerrville, Brandt will continue to commute back and forth to work at Impact Christian Fellowship. While it's not ideal, it's still OK.

Here in Tucson, I LOVE LOVE LOVE my job. I really enjoy the people I work with, and I even more so love the patients and their families. Yesterday I actually had the thought..."I'm a nurse practitioner!!! Yee haa!" Sometimes it hits me, I'm doing what I dreamed of 19 years ago when I graduated from nursing school. God is good, isn't he????

My office mate, Lucy is a newish pediatric nurse practitioner, who is tiny and beautiful and fun to share space with. We have found lots of things in common, since we both are new to the nurse practitioner role, so we give each other loads of support. She has worked at the hospital for years as an RN, so she really helps me find my way around. She is a Christian so we listen to KLOVE on our computers at work in our tiny office space. Our office space is a little room in the research wing...when I say research, I mean mice and radioactive stuff. On our door is a radioactive sign...REALLY. It's just across the hall from all the docs that we work with, who all have labs for their research in the area of pediatric cancer. COOL? yep.

SO, last week as Lucy and I are trying to get our computers up and running, I brought in a "router" from home so we could have 2 laptops on one line. One morning soon after we got up and going, a "tech person" came by, knocked on the door an announced that our internet service was "blocking" a lot of people and had to be shut down...end of story, goodbye. We find out the next morning, not only had she blocked US to the internet...but the ENTIRE pediatrics wing (at least 3 floors of people's offices!!!!) SO, my boss knocks on our door to say "Lisa, your picture is on the front page of the Arizona Daily Wildcat...."WANTED!!!!" I managed to shut down the system for a day! What a way to start my new job, huh????? unfortunately, there was no reward offered, so I didn't turn myself in.

Today Annie and Brandt are at the rodeo parade and rodeo, and I promise to post pictures soon. The weather here is beautiful, sunny and 80s (it's FEBUARY!) so I might have to go out and bask by the pool, to sweat out my germs, ya know. Keep us in your prayers!!! Love ya!

more to come...we found a new church :)

I am so happy for you. Glad Brandt is there this week. Good job on the internet, sounds like something a wife of a techie would do!
