Campin" out!

Last weekend Annie went camping with the girl scouts. It was her first GS camp out at a local place called Schreiner Park and we had been counting down EVERY DAY until the camp out. All the supplies were purchased, packed and ready to go. As I dropped her off Friday night with the threat of severe weather lurking to our north, I helped her set up her cute little bumble bee tent, and she ran off with a "see ya Mom". That evening we enjoyed some relaxing time on our deck with our good friends Amy & Wes. About 7:30 pm, the sky began to darken and rumble. The darker and louder it got, the louder I prayed...'Lord, protect my baby----she's in a bumble bee tent!!!" And it began to rain. Then it began to hail little pea sized hail, and little quarter sized hail. I only cried a little, with the rain coming down in torrents, the lightening crashing, and the hail growing. As soon as it slowed down a little, Annie's sweet Daddy and his buddy Wes volunteered to drive over to the park and "just check" on the girls. I packed up a couple of DRY sleeping bags & towels (just in case!) The men returned all smiles to report that the girls were all together in a tiny cabin singing camp fire songs, and Annie could not figure out why Dad was even there??

The next evening I had promised to come a visit and bring Annie her evening asthma medicine only to find her sitting in her chair under a tree with a really sad face. It seems that TWO of her friends in the cabin (the same ones she slept with last night...) had a case of HEAD LICE....and the entire cabin had to go home. They were just about to call me to come get her. Needless to say, we packed everything up, stopped by Walgreens on the way home and washed EVERYTHING in HOT water. I think we're safe, but to make the poor camper happy, we set up the campground in our very own living room...now that's my kind of camping...bathroom and fridge just around the corner, air conditioning, AND TV you can see through the tent door! Livin' large I'll tell ya, livin' large--(and no head lice-thank you!)

So cute that you let Annie set up in the living room. She looks quite content there. (And that is my kind of camping too!)
